Planning is underway for the 5th Annual Wappinger Family Fun Day Event.

The 5th Annual Wappinger Family Fun Day is scheduled for June 2nd, 2007 from 11:00 - 4:00 and planning is underway.  Previous sponsors should be receiving their letters asking to join us again in sponsoring this fun-filled family oriented event.  For anyone interested in becoming a sponsor, please download a sponsorship application at the "Become a Sponsor" page and mail it in.  This year's event will be to help out 15-year old Bettina Briccetti, the founder of the Wappinger Challenger League.  Bettina started the league for children with disabilities. A family friend suffers from a seizure disorder and is unable to play baseball in the regular league due to his disabilities. So, Bettina contacted the Wappinger Little League and put together the Challenger League. She obtained a charter, secured insurance, ordered uniforms and worked out a budget. The Challenger League is in its third year with 30 kids participating.  Now, she is in the process of designing a special field for handicapped children.  That's where we hope to assist her in this endeavor. Please join us in helping her cause.  Hope to see you there or becoming a sponsor.

Another Successful Annual Wappinger Family Fun Day In The Books

Thanks to all that attended the 3rd Annual Wappinger Family Day.  It was a very successful day with over 28 local area businesses on hand and over 2,000 attendees.  The weather was terrific.  The morning started with a helicopter ride from Associated Aircraft Group, located at the Dutchess County Airport, for a few children and their fathers from New Hackensack Fire Department that are living with autism.  Then began the big day of fun, games, and health and safety tips provided by local area businesses.  In addition to all the great things available for the attendees free of charge, Alamo Ambulance and a staff of Child Passenger Safety Seat Technicians inspected almost 50 child seats for proper installation; which 8 seats were replaced free of charge.  Check out the Photo Gallery for pictures from throughout the day!  More news will follow...

New Hackensack and Alamo Ambulance Recipients of Wappinger Family Fun Day Proceeds

It was a quiet night on the evening of June 22nd when the leaders of Wappinger Family Fun Day met at New Hackensack Fire Department to present a total of $1,500 in charitable donations thanks to the success of the 2004 event.  Receiving checks were Asst. Chief Frank Paulo and Fire Prevention Coordinator Tony Marquez for New Hackensack Fire Department, and Jim Hess from Alamo Ambulance Service.

Both organizations were strong participants in the event.  The Fire Department, under the direction of Asst. Chief Paulo, provided a location for this ever growing annual community event.  In addition, they provided fire safety tips through the use of the Dutchess County Department of Emergency Responses Fire Safety Trailer.  Mr. Hess and Alamo Ambulance performed car seat safety inspections.

Presenting checks of $750 to each of these community services were Dr. Howard Brown and Jennifer Burke of Brown Chiropractic Associates and Christina Cogan of The Enchanted Forest Daycare and Learning Center.  Both the chiropractic office and the daycare center are located in Wappingers and work closely with children and their families.

"We present these donations on behalf of our Wappinger event to services in our community that are dedicated to the health and safety of our families.  These two represent just that," said Dr. Brown.  "The New Hackensack Fire Department was such a great assistance in our event and all their firefighters are volunteers.  Mr. Hess came with a team from Alamo Ambulance and checked every car seat that came by them.  If they didn't approve of the quality of a car seat, they took it and then replaced it for the family at no charge!"

Wappingers Family Fun Day had its 2nd annual event on May 29th, 2004.  Nearly 1,000 people attended this year's event, which was full of free games and prizes for children to win.  There was music provided by Mark Bolger from Star 93.3 FM and dancing too.  Children played with "Renee" from the Hudson Valley Renegades, clowns, and "Sparky and Pumper" from New Hackensack.  They also enjoyed face painting done by members of Stop and Shop.  Along with the car seat inspections from Alamo, there were free finger printing and photo ID's from the Dutchess County Sheriff, a blood drive by Hudson Valley Blood Services, and free spinal exams by Brown Chiropractic Associates.

Plans have already begun for the 2005 event.  The date will be Saturday, May 21st.  Anyone interested in becoming a sponsor for the event is invited to call Dr. Brown's office at (845) 297-3751 or visit our website at www.wappingerfamilyday.org and download a sponsorship form from our "Become a Sponsor" page and mail it to the address provided.
