History About This Event:
Dr. Howard Brown of Brown Chiropractic Associates began this event by initially being a part of the Kid's Day America program which is an International event. Select Chiropractic firms from areas around the country hold the events at their offices and provide health exams and safety education to the kids in attendance. After providing the service for 3 years, Dr. Brown could no longer handle the success of the project at his facility. In addition, he felt that if he could work with other local area businesses and provide the service on a larger scale and donate the proceeds to local organizations in his area that could also benefit from the donations.
In 2002, Dr. Brown hooked up with Tina Cogan from Enchanted Forest Daycare and Learning center and held the 1st. Annual Wappinger Family Fun Day at Stop N Shop on Route 9 in the Town of Wappinger. Unfortunately, the location of the event was not as promising as they had hoped and the attendance at the event was also hampered by poor weather. Knowing that the event was important for spreading the word about health and safety, they would not be deterred. After discussing the event with New Hackensack Fire Department, which participated in the annual events each year, the Fire Prevention Bureau stepped to the plate and decided to play a larger role in the event. Along with assisting with the preparation of the event, the Fire Department decided to host the event at their location at the intersection of Myers Corners Road and All Angels Hill Road.
